I still haven't gained any weight so far, but I've been very careful. I'm starting to get hungry, so I need to watch myself. I'm starting to get hip pains and siatica in my right hip, but other than that I feel OK. I have days where I'm really tired, but it's usually after days where I haven't felt tired, so I've overdone the cleaning or walking or stayed up late. I can easily sleep for 10 hours a night, and thanks to Teresa's very generous Christmas gift card, we bought a TV for our bedroom, so now Adam can watch TV in bed next to me while I go to sleep!
I still feel vaguely sick if I don't eat often enough and I can't eat enough mangos and oranges at the moment. My tummy is starting to stick out a bit, but really Pumpkin is just pushing the flab I have left over from Nicolas upwards and outwards! If I had a flat stomach to start with, I don't think I would be showing yet. I'm about to give up on my regular jeans as they really squish my tummy and just wear my cargo pants until it's warm enough for skirts.

Nicolas' First Shoes
Nicolas will now walk any distance less than about four feet. Any bigger distance is still faster to crawl, so I knew it was time to get him some shoes. He has never had shoes because I felt he would learn to walk faster if he could grip with his toes, and also supposedly their feet develop better without shoes. Because he crawls all the time his socks are always brown, which looks like I don't care for him!
My friend Shelley has sent him the cutest little trainers, but they kept falling off so I had to get him some shoes that would help him walk. I found some bargin shoes from Stride Rite (the American equivalent of Clarks) which were reduced from $50 to $19 and so my little baby now looks all grown up and like a proper little boy!
Playing with his new Birthday magnets in his new shoes.
Kirsten had Nicolas in her dolls 'pack and play' this morning and he was quite happy to suck on one of her doll's bottles and play as her baby.

Jack's 3rd Birthday
We went to the kids cousin Jack's 3rd birthday last Saturday. The kids had a great time and we got to see lots of family and friends.
Mom and Dad's Final Week
We had a great evening with Adam's Mom, Teresa and his step Dad, Mark on Dec 30th. It was the first time they had been able to spend time with Mom and Dad, and Jaden and Kirsten got to play with Adam's sister, Dana, who they just adore. Teresa overwhelmed us with presents, so it was like Christmas day all over again!
Poor Mom got sick on New Year's Eve so she an Dad volunteered to babysit so Adam and I could go to a party. It was a High School friend of Adam's and the party was at his Dad's house. I have never in my life been to such an amazing house. They had an indoor basketball court (in addition to all the outdoor tennis courts and basketball courts!), the most amazing swimming pool with tropical plants growing all around it and a movie theater which seated at least 30 with hand painted murals all over the walls. Adam's friend and his parents are so lovely though and we had such a good night. Adam and I are usually in bed by 9:30pm, and we were up until about 2am. Of course Nicolas didn't know he was supposed to sleep late on New Year's Day, so he was up at 6:30am. I was totally dead all day, but it was worth it.

Mom and Dad left on Jan 3rd so we had a couple of days taking the dog for walks and Mom helped me take all the Christmas decorations down.
My nesting instincts have really kicked in so I had two days of sorting every closet and cupboard in the house. Adam put me up new shelves in the closet in Nicolas' room so I have so much storage space I don't know what to do with it all!! I love having everything in labelled boxes. We even did that with the kids toys because they have so many they get overwhelmed, and now they get to play with a few toys at a time and put them back in the boxes when they are done. I hope the new system will finally help them to keep their rooms clean.
I was so sad when Mom and Dad left. We went from having the house full of people for 3 weeks and then it was back to just me and Leo.
Leo was so sad for a few days, but I've been walking him 3 miles a day in the hope that I won't put on too much weight with Pumpkin. Dad fed Nicolas just about every meal, so I really missed having him here because I must spent at least an hour and a half feeding Nicolas each day. I don't mind, but it was nice to have the extra time to do what I wanted to do. I know Mom and Dad will be back in July, so that made saying bye less sad.
Dad had a couple of pictures on his camera of Nicolas eating his birthday cake.
